The Jens Risom Style Side Chair is an exquisitely crafted reproduction that faithfully emulates the essence of the original design.
The initial sketches of this design were showcased in 1939 at 'Collie's House of Ideas' during the world exhibition held in New York. In the early 1940s, Jens Risom, in collaboration with Hans Knoll, established the Hans Knoll Furniture Company. It was within this company that the renowned Risom '600' series was conceptualized. Due to the ongoing war and the consequent scarcity of materials, the chair was ingeniously originally constructed using parachute fabric.
Jens Risom began his career as a dual designer for furniture and interiors at the Copenhagen office of Ernst Kuhn. Subsequently, he relocated to the United States and assumed the role of design director at Dan Cooper in New York. His design philosophy had a profound impact on the works of the mid-20th century, and it has endured remarkably well over time. Pieces such as the Risom Lounge Chair and Ottoman continue to be highly coveted favorites even today.
